"Sharifah Sofia Syed Mokhtar Shah graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Economics from University of York, United Kingdom (“UK”) and obtained a Master of Science in Development Management from London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), UK.

She started her career as a summer analyst in Morgan Stanley, Singapore and was also an External Consultant to Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation from October 2015 to May 2016. Sofia joined POS Malaysia Berhad as a Special Officer to the Group Chief Executive Officer from January to October 2017. She also had a stint with Grameen Bank, Bangladesh where she acquired greater understanding of microfinance and the operation of social businesses and was also a Congressional Intern at Washington DC, U.S.A.

"She was accorded the Duke of Edinburgh Award and the York Award in recognition of her commitment and involvement in Student Community at the University of York."[1]
