"Ted Cassidy MBE: Founder and Chair of Saffron Young People’s Project and the former City Councillor for Saffron Ward. A qualified youth and community worker and social worker, he is currently Head of Regional Partnerships at De Montfort University. He is a non-executive Director of Leicestershire Chamber of Commerce and a trustee of the National Space Centre. He is an active supporter of the arts as Chair of Phoenix Square. Ted was Chair of the Special Olympics GB National Summer Games 2009 in Leicester. He is a long-standing Leicester City Football Club season ticket holder." [1]

From May 2015, "Coun Cassidy is currently involved in managing the renovation and development of St Peter's Church and Community Centre in Highfields. He has held numerous roles within Leicester City Council, including that of assistant city mayor for economic development, High Bailiff and Deputy Lord Mayor. He is also a trustee with both the National Space Centre and the Carlton Hayes Mental Health Charity, a board member of LeicesterShire Promotions and member of Leicester Cathedral Council. Coun Cassidy was awarded an MBE in 2008 for services to the community and the arts....He will be joined in his role by his consort, Mrs Vijay Sharma, the former head of the BBC Asian Network." [1]
