Washington lobbyist John Jarvis owned and controlled (as President) The Jarvis Company, which was an important lobbyist for the tobacco industry in the 1980s. His speciality was lobbying in Democrat and union/labor circles: his background had been as the Legislative Director of the United Mine Workers before he set up his own company and began promoting cigarettes.
