My name is Sameer and I'm a summer intern helping out with Congresspedia, Sunlight Networks, and whatever else comes down the pipeline.

I was born in Missouri but spent some of my younger days in Saudi Arabia before our family moved to Fairfax Virginia about 19 years ago. I recently graduated from the University of Virginia where I somehow collected a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering. Besides staring at differential equations, I spent my time working as a projectionist in the university's movie theater and played on the club soccer team.

I previously interned at the Center for American Progress, specifically with the new progressive science and technology policy magazine, Science Progress. My work involved researching science and technology policy news, watching congressional hearings, and writing blog posts and articles for the website. I also spent four summers working at US Airways headquarters in Arlington Virginia prior to Science Progress.

Being an engineer, my interests include most things science and technology. I am particularly interested in neuroethics and other metaphysical issues raised by advancing knowledge in neuroscience. I also enjoy keeping tabs on the intersection between science and public policy when it relates to communicating science to the general public. Energy policy and stem cell research policy are other curiosities.
