Women's Earth Alliance "was inspired by a network launched in 2005, called Women's Global Green Action Network--an incredible group of activists, mothers, entrepreneurs, educators, health workers, and community leaders joining forces from countries around the world. This group shared a common concern-- the lack of networking and support services available at our grassroots, where environmental challenges are most pressing...

"Women's Earth Alliance, an Earth Island Institute project, is a response to the mandate created by this group of women during these early stages. The WEA team spent 3 years piloting the ideas and concepts for an initiative that would equip women with the appropriate technologies, timely trainings, much needed financial support, and global networking opportunities crucial to their success and to the success of their communities."
