Biographical Information

"Joanna Foster was appointed chair of the Crafts Council in 2006. In 2010 she was reappointed for a further three years. She is an Associate Fellow of Oxford University’s SAID Business School and an Hon. Fellow of St. Hilda’s College.

"Joanna recently stepped down from nearly ten years of chairing the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, NHS Trust in Oxford. She strongly believes that a good environment makes a positive difference to healing and encouraged the development of a very lively arts programme in the hospital.

"She sits on the boards of a number of different organisations, including Oxford Philomusica and Oxfordshire Common Purpose, and is President of Oxfordshire Craft Guild. She was formerly a Board member for the Welsh National Opera, Deputy Chair and Governor of Oxford Brookes University, and President of Relate.

"Joanna previously chaired the Lloyds TSB Foundation and the Equal Opportunities Commission, and was Founder Director and Chair of the BT Forum and of the National Work-Life Forum." [1]
